Calaxius tungi sp.nov. (Figs.1-11)
During the investigation on shrimp resources in Northern Continental Slope of the South China Sea from 1981-1982,the auther obtained a new species of Axiidae and named it as Calaxius tungi sp.nov.The type specimen is deposited in the South China Sea Fisheries Institute,Chinese Academy of Fisheries Sciences.
Holotype male CL.23-mm,BL.59.5-mm,in 367-402-m depth in Northern Continental Slope of the South China Sea (19¡ã58¡äN£¬114¡ã15¡äE),ZHONG Zhen-Ru,Apr.1981.
Rostrum well developed, flat on bast, tip styliform, lateral Margin with four lateral spines, extending into anterior part of carapace.Carapace with median carina bearing two teeth, submedian line not carinate, but with two spines, and lateral line with two distinct teeth.Abdominal somites smooth, pleura 1-5 triangularly pointed posteriorly, bearing anterolateral spine on pleura 3-5,pleuron 5 traiangular in shape tipped with spine.Telson oblong, posterior margin rounded without median spine, but armed with two spinules at posterolateral angle.
Eyestalks subglobose, and elongate mandible with smooth cutting edge.P/I palm with interspaced teeth on dorsal margin.P/3 propodus elongate with transverse rows of setae and spines, dactylus sickleformed.P/5 coxa with genital pore.Male Pl/1 absent;male Pl/2 biramous, slender, and with appendix internal and appendix masculina.
Thoracic sternum 4 forming thoracic shield with deep median incision posteriorly, and with sharp lateral spine. The new species,Calaxius tungi sp.nov., closely related to Calaxius acutirostris Sakai,1989,and C.euophthalmus (De Man,1905) in telson being oblong, and with rounded posterior margin beraring no median spine;and in rostrum being rather elongated. However,in the new species P/1 chela extremely slender, telson armed with two lateral spines in addition to two posterolateral spines;uropod endopod with one median spine on lateral margin;thoracic sternum 4 with deep median incision posteriorly, and armed with sharp lateral spine.Carapace with submedian line with two small spines and lateral carina with two distinctive teeth;and rostrum armed with four lateral spines, extending into anterior part of carapace.
