| Abstract |
Morphological and color characters used for discriminating _C_. _areolatus _Rahayu & Forest, 1999 from _C_. _morgani _Rahayu & Forest, 1999 are reviewed by examination of specimens from Japan, Taiwan, and Palau. All characters are found to be influenced considerably by size of individuals or to exhibit other forms of intraspecific variability, and thus do not allow for discrimination of specie. Consequently, it is concluded that _C_. _areolatus _was founded on juvenile and young individuals of _C_. _morgani_. The name _Calcinus morgani _is selected as the senior synonym. |
